I have been asked by historian and author Max Poole to post here seeking photos of two wartime RNZAF aircraft that crashed at Waiuku. They are:
Douglas Dauntless NZ5007 (aka NZ211) which crashed at Waiuku during a gunnery exercise at 1145 hours on 13 September 1943. Max thinks it was probably still wearing the US Marines markings when it crashed and most probably wore NZ211 on the side. Pilot Officer William McJannet and Sergeant Douglas Cairns were killed in the crash.
Chance Vought F4U-1 Corsair NZ5515 which crashed on the Waiuku Golf Course on the 16th of August 1944 during a test flight. The pilot Sergeant Barney Warbrick was killed. Max is sure a photo of the crash site appreared in a New Zealand Wings magazine issue in the 1970's but he has been unable to locate the photo.
Does anyone here have or know of photos of either crash site please? Let me know and I can pass on anything to Max. My email is dave_daasnz@hotmail.com
Thanks.

Dave , I am pretty sure that the Corsair crash photo has been on this Forum , I certainly can recall seeing a photo labelled that way with maybe just the tail section remaining.
