This is why my collecting of pilot's logbooks has been crucial to piecing together the histories of these aeroplanes, because there are no records existing from the OTU's to check. Anyone who has a logbook with RNZAF P-40's in, please get in touch as I'd love to get a digital copy, to keep building up the jigsaw that s the P-40's histories. I saw a logbook this afternoon which covered some P-40 flying with 4 OTU during September 1944. I will see if I can get some copies of the relevant pages. I noticed there were half a dozen or more P-40 tail numbers mentioned, are there any particular ones that may be of interest here ?

It was the logbook of P/O Peter Sheppard who was in the flight of Corsairs flying over Westport a few months later. I imagine Bob Reynolds may have been at an OTU earlier also so will ask if I can get some copies of his logbooks as well.

Yes, it was Ben and I saw that entry in his log. I should have pics of a few of the pages tomorrow.

I have copies of Peter's logbook showing his P40 time at 4 OTU at Ohakea.
I didn't see NZ3220 in the log.
There is also the page showing the entry for the ill fated flight in the Corsair of 11 Nov 44.
Can anyone recommend a thread here where I can post the pics ?

Is there any sign of DH82 ZK-BQB amongst the collection?

Yes - it is hiding behind the post in the last photo. Seems to be complete and in good order.

Big thanks from this part of the world as well. Haven't wanted to nag but have been desperate for some photos. Thanks so much. Wonderful to see the airframes now with some sunlight and space around them. Just amazing what John has been able to preserve.

Curtiss - Thanks for that, I failed to look closely enough. Back in the 1970s during an AACA fly-in at Nelson, along with a group of AACA members I visited John and was able to sit in the Mossie's cockpit.

Wow I am absolutely amazed at how tidy the place is. I didn't realize the mustang was missing that whole lower section as the aircraft was half buried. Where has everything gone ?
