I've been enjoying following the build of Scrappy. You often have traditional techniques being described as "Craftsmanship" but what mike can do with Carbon fibre totally fits that description as well. I've learnt so much about how that material is used. Hes a long way from your "Normal" homebuilder however (if there is such a thing...) I dont know of too many homebuilders in my patch who buy their spouse a carbon Cub for a birthday present, then themselves a Wilga for Christmas at the same time as building something from carbon!... Back to work!

Mike Patey is really incredible to watch in that he is a brilliant engineer, designer and craftsman, but he's also great on camera explaining everything really well ad showing how it's done, and making it both interesting and entertaining.

Agreed, the guy's a machine and his enthusiasm is infectious, makes you wonder what the second version of Draco will be? After watching all the videos covering the builds of Draco & Scrappy I'm already excited about what Draco II will be like  I don't think he did a series of the making of his race plane 'Turbulence' but would love to have seen that being made. What a beast! |
