That looks very much like the 2015 RNZAC national competitions at Whitianga (it's definitely Whitianga) which the Auckland Aero Club that I was instructing for at the time hosted. So the date would be somewhere from the 25th to the 28th of of February 2015.

Thanks for the replies.
The pic came up on a Facebook Tomahawk site and the poster thought it was NZ. I didn't recognise the machine or the strip but did think I could supply a little more to the discussion.
Some of the Americans have a thing about grass strips, that looks to be as hard as and in the midst of a NZ summer.

I think that is one of the Hawkes Bay Tomahawks, but not sure of the specific rego.
