Apparently Being pushed for and succeeded in get a law passed that cuts FAA oversight in the manufacturing and certification of aircraft. The law also means the aircraft manufacturers have input into the annual assessment of FAA inspectors fitness reports. So if the story is correct, it appears instead of the FAA being an independent govt agency, it is now govt funded and basically owned and controlled by the manufacturers, with Boeing being the largest benefactor.

There has been some interesting write ups in the Australian Newspaper of late in their business section and the aviation section on a Friday. Talk about giving a free/ hospital pass to Airbus, the Canadians and Brazil and all for the sake of putting profits (shareholders) first over safety.
Heck even the wife went WTF when I explain what Boeing had did and her response why would Boeing do such a stupid thing and expect to try and get away with it, when the law of averages would sooner or later catch up with Boeing’s stupid idea.
The wife has a background in Transport, Public Service Procurement (Police, Fire and Emergency Services) and procurement risk management.
