Yes that is the (good) problem Dave, too many planes and not enough hangar space! As the collection steadily grows it's good to see Ardmore slowly becoming a 'destination' along the lines of Omaka, Wanaka etc. There seem to be increasing numbers of tour groups, school groups and so forth going through the hangars, and that must certainly help solidify the airport's long term future if it can be kept up.

I think Ardmore should have a hotel on site with a nice bar and restaurant and each room has a balcony view of the airport activities.

I did hear last year that they were to build another one. Wish someone would build some more hangars at Masterton, big enough for some Lancasters and then all the others would fit in.

They own the big hangar (ex-Hawker Pacific) and the small hangar (ex-Tecnam), and still lease their old big hangar.

Very cool looking machine. However that brown is such a fugly colour, I hope they get the spray guns out eventually.

Now registered as ZK-SSW. Interestingly, it's is listed as a "Carl Swanson Fokker DIV (Replica)", the same as the Fokker DIV replica at TVAL. I wonder if that is a mistake or if there is something more to it.

If it's German, it must be a Fokker. The TVAL Triplanes (registered some years ago) are all 'Fokker Triplane Replica Scout' BTW, so it isn't like there is any consistency in how replicas are labelled. I am failing to find any photos online of TVAL's Fokker D.IV, incidentally. So someone copied this entry confusing it for the Siemens-Schuckert D.IV replica in the OAHC? What's the history of the OAHC SSW BTW? Siemens-Schuckert D.IV replica by Errol Cavit, on Flickr Also BTW, N474PZ still has turbo-props!

Started by Bill Cole and completed by Harry Wooldridge as N2160F in 1994 it became part of the Ryder collection in Alabama. It was one of several aircraft acquired by TVAL when the collection was parted out. Originally flown with a Warner Super Scarab, it was fitted with a dummy rotary (Clerget?) engine for static display in the OAHC. SSW DIV by Matt Smith, on Flickr

I think I remember a photo of the D.IV in the News section of Classic Wings way back when. I'll try and track it down later today.
