Sorry if this has been covered here and point me if has. Were there ever any RAAF or RAN exchange pilots in 75 or 2 sqns flying A4s?

I know they had US Navy pilots and at least one RSAF pilot on strength at various times, but no other specific at moment. Dave D

Don't know about RAN but there were definitely RAAF pilots on exchange on A-4's.

There were no formal RAN or RAAF pilot exchanges on the RNZAF Skyhawk Squadrons. In the early 70s there was a USN exchange programme and from the late 70s a USAF one. After the 1984 ANZUS fallout there were no more exchanges with the US. A RAF fast jet exchange programme started in the mid 1990s and went through until the end in 2001. The Singapore and Malaysian pilots on 75 Sqn for short periods were just there for conversion training (as both countries were getting their own Skyhawks), no exchange as such, although Iggy Wood did do a Strikemaster instructor exchange with them.

So have any RNZAF pilots flown RAN Skyhawks back or in the day or in recent times their Hornets? I am aware some went to the RAAF Hornets when the Skyhawks finished up.

No RNZAF A-4 pilots ever flew RAN Skyhawks that I'm aware of until we bought them in 1984. Only 2 ex RNZAF A-4 pilots have flown Hornets that I know of (Easty is one of them and still is). Back seat rides don't count!
