I have a 3D-printed 1/48 model of the CAC Woomera and it's been on the backburner for at least three years due to the surface prep involved. Good luck to those getting into these kits.
I shudder to think about the surface prep for One Man Models' HP.42!

OK, so far I'm reasonably impressed! Yep the surfaces do require some preparation, however One Man Model provide all the wet & dry sanding paper required to do it. The alignment & detail of parts is excellent. Brass rods and polystyrene rods and cane spars are also provided for reinforcement of parts. My example obviously has multiple 'ink' changes during printing...quite colourful! Parts can be glued with super glue or normal poly cement. If anybody is interested there are assembly instructions provided here... It gives some idea of the detail captured in the kit. Some serious cabin detail here! one-man-model.main.jp/Parts temporarily assembled here...although tail section & individual wings & nacelle arrangements are glued Untitled by Harry Follas, on Flickr Untitled by Harry Follas, on Flickr

Could that be an example of the RNZAF's HS748 trainer scheme that supported the Red Checkers during their display season...?

I'm excited to follow along with this build Harry! I'm keen to see whether he does the Andover too: I've been following his updates at Britmodeller and he was initially unaware of the different models.

update on the HS.748...some progress..internal detail... I'm not sanding back all of the scan lines on internal parts as they are difficult to see anyway, however you get some idea of the detail. Parts all fit together like a glove. Untitled by Harry Follas, on Flickr Untitled by Harry Follas, on Flickr Untitled by Harry Follas, on Flickr

...beginning final assembly...major components I added some 'ballast' in the forward luggage compartment, thinly disguising it as freight. The model uses brass locating pins to line up all components. The fit is really quite good, although surprisingly there is a bit of filling to be done between the two fuselage halves. Lots more wet & dry sanding ahead I feel too 748 by Harry Follas, on Flickr

Loving this build. I am especially interested as I have been in communication with Mr Toshihiko Shimizu about offering this (the RNZAF Andover C1) in 1/32 scale for me. He initially said no but has just come back saying yes. Its over $500 NZD but will reduce it considerably if more orders are taken.
Harry, do you think the detail of the print would stand up to enlarging so much? I am not worried about the print lines, but curious of the kit shapes and details. He seems to have gone to a lot of effort to get the shapes correct.
Great build, it looks really good
Cheers Anthony

Anthony, there may be ex-No. 1 Squadron and No. 42 Squadron members who are large scale modellers out there who'd like the big 1/32nd scale Andover. Maybe post on some of the ex-RNZAF pages on Facebook to generate interest?

Hi Anthony, I have no doubt that the detail would stand up to enlargement...actually with the print resolution, I suspect that the detail would be greater and more finely resolved! You may need to add details like seatbelts etc, but the bones are good. Some of his techniques are a bit 'interesting' like the windows/glazing, however his basic structures are very detailed. Thanks guys!
Harry that's interesting to know....I am leaning more and more to getting him to print me one in 32nd now. Thanks again.
She looks great on her legs now. That really looks the business and has the right look and feel of the original.
Cheers Anthony

I'll post some more pictures tomorrow, looks good as now painted...at least 3 coats of primer and one topcoat and very little scan lines visible at all. However In my own honest opinion, I'd find a better way of doing the glazing than Mr Toshihiko Shimizu provides! It looks great from the outside but some of the 'sticky taped' window layers have delaminated & makes the interior almost impossible to see!
If I was to do it again, I'd use hard CD case poly plastic (cut, shaped and glued into place). That worked very well on my recent Grumman Mallard vacform model

3D printed 'Budgie', painted and all masks removed...It has come up beyond expectations really, at least as good as any conventional injection molded kit (and possibly dimensionally more accurate an part fit more precise). I'm thinking of marking it as DES in the final Mount Cook livery. Untitled by Harry Follas, on Flickr Untitled by Harry Follas, on Flickr Untitled by Harry Follas, on Flickr Untitled by Harry Follas, on Flickr I chose to model it with all the doors closed, there is sufficient detail in the kit to model doors open and an air-stair is provided for the rear cabin door
