Hey all, something I've been contemplating for a while. This won't contain any earth shattering news, history that deserves remembering, or award winning photography, but taking a lead from our correspondant on Lord Howe, thought you might all enjoy the odd snippet from down south. Any photography is most likely to be via cellphone, and hosted by a free account someplace, so the pics are what they are and last as long as they do. I welcome, and encourage, discussion, argument, reminisces, facts, opinions, questions, letters to the editor and fisticuffs as this will be real boring if it's just my occasional rubbish photo. I don't promise that it will even be 100% aircraft, but if not it will be interesting to the average WoNZ member i'm sure. Speaking of occasional, it will be only now and again as i find something to post, so don't hang waiting for the next update. Could be months between drinks. A little about me: scale RC model builder and flyer, occasional warbird enthusiast and electrician, which is why i spend half my work week driving around Central. Ex RNZN. Formerly of Auckland until i saw the light. Check into WoNZ every day as there is always something interesting being posted, and check out the odd podcast. Resident in the rural Upper Clutha valley, about 10km from Luggate. Note i won't be posting a blow-by-blow account of WoW shows as there are much better qualified persons to do so. Photos should be stored here if you want to go to Photobucket: s1093.photobucket.com/user/dale_bradly/library/On with the show:

So a few months ago, i was heading down the Cromwell Gorge (Between Crom & Clyde) and spotted the unmistakable shape of a Herc above. Yes, here is a pic of the Cairmuir Range, with a dot in the sky: 20191115_115833 by Dale Bradly, on Flickr As an aside there was a heap of army looking like they were defending the Clyde Dam, so i guess there was some exercise on in the area. Not long later i might have been in Alex 4 Square getting a Mince & Cheese, and the ceiling tiles just about fell down as it went overhead at about 3 feet above the rooftops, clearly on final approach to Alex airport. Headed up there (with half a dozen other locals for a look. Not a common occurance to see a Herc here. 20191115_132831 by Dale Bradly, on Flickr A bunch of pretty tough looking chaps disembarked, looking like they were off on leave. Apparently a parachute drop had taken place too, but i didn't see that. Herc departed, didn't really bother climbing much, just flew around between the terrain and headed towards Dunedin. 20191115_132857 by Dale Bradly, on Flickr Made for a interesting day.

Damned photobucket. Can't see the images, they're blurred and have this watermark all over them.

Hover your mouse over the photos - see the little fist - click and you go to the PB page.

Have you guys who are not seeing the photos got AdBlock installed? I am wondering if something in that blocks the Photobucket logo/blur for me? AdBlock is free from Chrome Apps. Try it and see if my theory has any merit.

its the Photobucket ransom demand - pay or get your images blurred... Its up the PB account holder to pay (and something I'm not intending to do for my pics...)

Have you guys who are not seeing the photos got AdBlock installed? I have but its weird as I just had a look at the Gloria Lyons and 4 SU thread. Photos showed up from the first page in 2009 and then I got the blurry ones with the logo on the next page dated 2011 posted by McFly. The ones you posted Dave and Peter (PJW4118) show up fine. So I'm wondering if (at least for me) the photos don't show because the person who posted them hasn't got a current PB account? Or moved/deleted the photos? Raymond on the third page has a similar issue for his pics. Can you see them?

Just another thought, has the poster got his albums set to Public? I can't see the ones on this page either.

Baz yeah I can see some clearly and others not. For a while I was seeing all photos clearly when others were not. It's baffling, but ore than that, it's really hugely annoying. Surely they have breached the contract we all had with them to provide free hosting of photos...
For the record I have not paid a cent for any of my four Photobucket accounts. Since the debacle started a couple of years back I have used my own personal server as host of my photos, and there are a few old threads where I have replaced important photos with ones linked to my own server so we can still see them. If the post has an edit from years after the original post date that has probably happened.

Even if you had any claim under your original contract (which I'm sure you read before you agreed to it), you gave them permission to change the terms of the contract whenever they felt like it.

Yeah, sorry chaps, I can see em all! I wonder if cookies are somehow involved too, if you have a photobucket login you'll have a cookie enabling them or similar. Library is public. If anyone has a alternative suggestion for a free hosting with the restrictions of only for a few months each or limited quantity of images etc that would work (remember none of this is terribly important and i don't mind it disappearing after some time), suggestions welcome.
As a more interesting aside, ZK-SAS flew over home on the weekend, nice to see (and hear!) it airborne.

People seem to be using Flickr nowadays instead. Hopefully Flickr has seen what a hated mess Photobucket has become and won't try a similar thing themselves.
