I have just been looking at the various web cams at Italian ski resorts. There are many of them, all completely deserted, despite the beautiful sunny weather. Same with their beach cams. Quite Erie. I am doing this on Mobdro programme, channels "other".

Just saw on WIX that the virus has claimed Pino Valenti who owns the Fiat G46 trainer and G59 fighter trainer based in Italy.

I have to say that there's something about this that the majority of New Zealanders just "don't get"
What's it going to take for them to "get it"?

Unfortunately early on the mentality seemed to develop that "it's just a bad flu" which isn't true; as I understand it for many people it's no worse than a seasonal cold but for many others it can be life-threatening, the effects vary dramatically from individual to individual. It's really sickening to see in some places people are actively disobeying quarantines and so forth to hold parties, they might well be young and able to get through a bout of the virus (although being young doesn't automatically make you safe) but I wonder if they'll still think it was a good idea if they end up killing their grandparents or parents.

Welcome to the WFH club OJ! I had some serious challenges this afternoon after the announcement. No cell phone service due to overloading, I couldn't make or receive calls for a few hours. Texts were taking ages to go through. Hopefully the panic settles down tomorrow and people start acting rationally. It does worry me what will happen to my internet service with everyone at home on it. I need that to do my job!

I've been WFH since Wednesday, when work had a large-scale test. Then it was suggested by the powers that be that those that had returned from overseas before the 14-day 'requirement' came into force self-isolate for the remainder of their 14-days. For me, that meant until today (having been at Tyabb). Went into our office Thursday for an hour to drop off my work laptop (so others could take it home while I use my own desktop) and grab a couple of minor things. Friday the company announced they would be implementing basically level 3 protocols from today. I'm about 70% effective WFH, so manageable for day-to-day, a couple of planned projects will go slowly. Internet ok, phone not connecting at times today.
My partner was told today that her contract wouldn't be extended another month as discussed (not surprising). She's found the form to use for the payment if she doesn't pick anything up in the next few weeks.

I've been self-isolating since I got back from Australia on Tuesday last week. I would have been going back to work next Tuesday but now we're closed for a month so that won't be happening. Difficult for a flight instructor to work from home too!

I have been set up (well almost) for working from home in the West island but I can also work from my major construction site rather than the Council offices. Set that up two weeks ago just in case. Lots of prople being put off here and it is going to have a massive effect when this is all over. We shall undoubtedly follow the NZ and UK models probably before the end of the week or early next week. Cosford Torbay and Yeoviltion shows in UK gone so Flying Legends will probably cancel by next week.....
