Check this out, such moronic statements from these idiot politicians, from the EVENING POST, 2 SEPTEMBER 1944. Thank goodness the British were in charge!
CRITICAL AMERICAN
"TYPICAL ENGLISH POLICY"
WASHINGTON, August 31. Senator Chandler, a member of the Senate Military Affairs Committee, told the Press that the raising of General Montgomery to Field-Marshal is consistent with the typical English policy to outrank Americans in all the diplomatic and military theatres. He added: "When I toured the world last year I could not help noting that the British always outranked our fellows. That gives them the opportunity to dominate the show—or whatever it is." Senator Chandler recalled that he recently pointed out the shortcomings of British Policy in India, and added: But they are not short in getting on top. Senator Chandler expressed the opinion that it was time they went over the entire question of American rank and status in the field. Senator Thomas said: "I am not impressed. It is traditional. Any American soldier outranks for his fighting ability any other soldier in the world! We should not strain ourselves to create a new rank to equay that of field-marshal."
