Hi all
I am doing some research of a dear friend who sadly passed away many many years ago. We spent many hours together (Belynda worked with his wife) whilst he related his stories of flying in the RAF (I believed he said he trained in Canada) but with fondness with 6 and 123 Squadron. He told me so many stories, but he never told anything to his family.
After the war he came home and destroyed his logbooks, photograph albums and uniform etc (I believe he had a run in with the RNZAF when he got home about still having a Hurricane signed out in his name!). Sadly he slowly died of leukemia and all I got to do in return was take him to Air NZ to see Tim Wallis Hurricane be rebuilt several times (which he loved and the staff there were awesome) and make him a model of his beloved Hurricane he flew with 6 Sqn, 'X' (KZ187) which was his regular mount most of the time. Interestingly going through the 6 sqn ORB I see he flew KZ321 'N' several times, and she survives flying in Canada, the sole survivor of the famous Tank Busting squadron.
I always told the family I would do what I could and find out more about his service, apart from seeing him in the ORB I have found very little else. I need to do more research of course...
But I was wondering if there was anyone out there who might be able to help me with info for the family?
We would be hugely appreciated if you have any more info
Cheers Anthony
