OTAKI AIRMAN PRAISED
(Special P.A. Correspondent.)
LONDON, January 31. Squadron Leader J. S. Humphreys, of Otaki, commands a squadron of Hurricane bombers of the Eastern Air Command which recently bombed a target 60 miles beyond the recognised range of their aircraft. The squadron not only bombed it but strafed the Japanese as well, earning high praise from the 14th Army. Squadron Leader Humphreys flew with a Hurricane squadron in the Battle of Britain and later operated on Typhoons before going to India.
