Over the years we have accumulated a few odds and ends of Airspeed Oxford (and suspected Oxford) bits and pieces (a cowl ring, some landing gear assemblies, what appears to be a fuselage panel). Aside from the two complete aircraft (Wigram and Dairy Flat) is there a project out there looking for Oxford bits?

Yes please Dave. And thanks Shorty, that pic helped confirm that one of the bits is Oxbox. Were there versions with and without the gun/camera port in the nose?

Hi, I have the Oxbox ( NZ2155 ) project up here in Auckland and could sure use any spare or surplus parts, also happy to trade if required.

There should be Oxford stuff in the John Smith collection, everywhere I went around the top of the South Island ferreting out parts in the late '60s people would ask if I was with John smith who was collecting bits, I seemed to be just behind him by a couple of months most of the time.

The nose-mounted machine gun (a British-type Browning 0.303" I believe) was an exclusively NZ modifications, and quite a number were equipped with these guns, although they soon went out of fashion and were all removed. I believe the gun mountings were all individually manufactured by machining, so were probably fairly expensive to produce. David D

Just as a matter of interest, what aircraft is that sitting by the window in the first photo on the above Zac Yates post?

Unfortunately when I walked into the cockpits display I had eyes only for the Oxford. In fact for some reason I only have nine photos from the whole show (link). I've attempted to zoom and enhance but my laptop isn't capable of the wizardry seen on US cop shows! WOW08 mystery Harvard 2 by Zac Yates, on Flickr WOW08 mystery Harvard 1 by Zac Yates, on Flickr I just went through Ian Brodie's book of the show and there are no photos of the cockpit displays. I may also have discovered a reason I've not been able to reach the man behind the Manawatu project (link).

Harvard's probably Peter's NZ948 static example.

Thanks to Dave and the forum these bits have now found a home. We were able to help out the NZ2155 project in an exchange that will benefit Hudson NZ2035 and Mosquito HR339. An awesome outcome for everyone.
