Hi all, Allan Arthur's Pioneer-restored Kittyhawk is up for sale for US$1,795,000 (plus GST) with Platinum Fighter Sales: www.platinumfighters.com/p-40n-1Sure would be nice for her to come home, if someone out there was so inclined.

Two things - I did not win sufficient in lotto to secure its return to New Zealand. I notice the sellers have listed it as ex NZ3215 rather than NZ3125. I have informed the seller accordingly.

I looked up NZDF Serials. History seems a bit light compared with those around that number. Is that it actually did nothing or that the records are unavailable?

Both I think Ando. I don't think the original NZ3125 went overseas, it served with bot No. 2 (Fighter) Operational Training Unit and No. 4 (Fighter) Operational Training Unit, as a trainer, for its whole service career. And there are no records for either unit left now, other than pilots' personal flying logbooks (which is why I have been collecting logbook copies, to try to fill gaps like this).

That's sad. Understand searching for the logbooks. Vital items that are not so well recognized or equally cherished by the younger generation tasked with their preservation

Yes, I wish digital cameras had been around when I first started researching in the days of the Air Force Historic Centre.

For what it’s worth the original link no longer works and she’s disappeared from the Platinum Fighters website.

I don’t mean to pry, Ando, a mate happened to ask me about it so I went hunting.

NZ3125 still looks new, that paint has lasted very well over the past 15 years.

As Dave pointed out she has aged well, obviously is well looked after, doesn't look any different from 2006 to 2021!
