Now here's Brendon to properly sum up what I saw Pete and Joe doing the other day (FB link):

Another steady week behind us on our restoration of P51D Mustang NZ2423. With the structural work on the fuselage rebuild largely done, we have been working on a number of systems related tasks included the big task of sorting out the various pipework systems. Many of the pipes were intact on the aircraft and we also had a large crate of numerous pipes which seem to have originated from No 1 Repair Depot at Woodbourne in either new or refurbished condition. At this stage it looks like we will be missing very little in terms of original oil, coolant and hydraulic pipe lines.
The oil cooler radiator has been fitted to its housing and this is temporarily attached to the fuselage as is the oil tank forward of the firewall - this allows us to determine pipe fits etc. Because the oil, coolant and supercharger radiators are all located together in the ventral "dog house", the cooling circuits are all in the fuselage and relatively straight runs - much simpler than the Spitfire where these are all out on the wings.
Fitting of the side perspex windows is underway - although we had 2 new side windows amongst the spares, these showed signs of early delamination after 70 years and this seemed to be the case with other examples offered to us that we looked at. As this delamination would only get worse, we made the decision to use perspex for the side windows. The main windscreen will be a custom laminated glass assembly made the same way as the Spitfire one was. The original windscreen is a seven layer glass laminate and bullet proof.

Also, this treasure (FB link):
This is the only known air to air photo of NZ2423 that I've been able to uncover. It is lifted from an information pamphlet about 2 SQN produced sometime likely in the 1990s. The source of the photo is unknown but hopefully it will turn up in the photo archive at the Air Force Museum of New Zealand.
