Hello, This forum is the one place I have found a reference to my Dad. My Mum has all the photos and a wonderful memory in NZ,but from Australia I wonder if any members can help me online? My Dad joined the RNZAF from school around 1960 and served in Malaysia on Canberras as a Navigator/Bomb aimer after he married my Mum. We spent time (after my birth) bouncing between Wigram,Whenuapai and Wellington. We lost him in 77 while he was aboard an Rnzaf Orion on route to NZ. Thank you very much for any replies Andrew Graeme Barron

Oh gosh, your Dad died onboard the aircraft? That is very sad. I hope some of the older members here knew him and can help with info and stories.

It makes me feel old looking at some of those guys, who all look about 18!

Hi your dad was a great guy and I knew him well over his time with 14 Sqdn based in Singapore. If you like to PM me I can pass on other contacts as well, who I'm sure will also remember your Dad. Good luck with your search.

I was on that P3 flight transiting Nadi/Whenuapai at the end of a Norpat. Graeme was OC NATS at the time I completed my AEOP course a couple of years earlier, so I didn't know him well but he was certainly very well liked and respected.

Thank you Grant for your kind words. I fondly remember occasional weekend visits to Nats at Wigram in the mid 70s. I still have an old office chair from there back in Wellington. I would like to thank you and everyone onboard the aircraft that day for your efforts, which our family deeply appreciate.

Hi Andrew, I am new to this forum and have just joined on a lazy Sunday afternoon and had not seen your post until today. I was the TACCO on the flight from Fiji on which your dad passed away. If it is what you are looking for I can explain what happened on the aircraft and the effort the crew went to to take care of your dad when we realised that he was unwell. I can find my logbook for some of the details but most would be from memory. Fair to say it is still very fresh in my mind and if I can fill some gaps for you and your family, I am very happy to do that. Kind regards. Rob
