Whilst this looks like a scene from England during the Battle of Britain, this is in fact New Zealand and the fighters they're working with are our Curtiss P-40's. Cool eh! I would really like to know where were our operations rooms situated? I have heard one was in the Auckland Blind Institute building in Parnell, and another was in the basement of the Dominion Museum in Wellington, bit are either of them correct? A FIGHTER OPERATIONS ROOM.—Following his recent disclosure that radio location is used in the air protection of New Zealand, the Minister of Defence (the Hon. F. Jones) visited a fighter operations room “somewhere in New Zealand.” The commanding officer is explaining to the Minister how information gained by the coastal radio-location station is plotted. The demonstration is watched by Air Commodore J. L. Findlay, R.N.Z.A.F. PRESS, 22 JANUARY 1943

Through posting this to Facebook I have now been told one of these operations rooms was situated at Sanson near Ohakea, and another was apparently next to the Epsom Girls Grammar School in Auckland. Can anyone confirm?

Here's the high-res photo set from the Air Force Museum collection. File info suggests it may be at 'Central Group Headquarters, Wellington.'
