They are out of service due to requiring large “C” checks although there is currently a robbery in progress from NEG to keep others in the fleet going due to spare part availability at the moment.....

Thanks Andrew. Today I flew in NEW from Christchurch to Tauranga and it didn't seem to be missing any parts...

Referring back to Q300s NEJ and NEK not being in service for quite some time, I now see that NEG and NEH (again both in the blue scheme) are out of service, particularly NEG. Is this still to do with Coved 19 surpluses or is it something else I wonder. Nuuumannn - what is your understanding? Hi, sorry I've not replied in awhile, not on the forum much these days. Covid definitely as support that the fleet used to have is simply not there anymore. Nelson used to be the primary support base for the Dashes, but the side shops have all gone and the work is done elsewhere. They are having troubles with workload right now so things are not happening as often as they used to, which means aircraft are left on the ground. As for NEG, it is pretty much a Christmas tree and like Andrew said, it's due a C check. Problem is, there is no (full-time) heavy maintenance team in NSN anymore and all the tooling, stands etc have gone, so who knows when it'll get done.

Most have issues that as MEL-able items, you wouldn't be aware of them as a passenger anyway. I was just thinking, it's been nearly a year since I took those pictures.

That's interesting - I wonder if it is the beginning of the end of the Q-300s. I certainly hope not as I enjoy flying in them and have only NEB and NFI to fly in now.

They are cheaper to maintain than ATRS and they can get in and out of the smaller airports. They are a lot more flexible than ATRs.

Maybe we should go back to carrying a flight engineer on the jump seat everywhere we go.....😂

An update on ZK-NEG, she's back in service: www.flightradar24.com/data/aircraft/zk-neg
