The Vintage Kiwi Glider Club is holding its annual rally at Hood Aerodrome Masterton between 12th and 18th February 2022 marking the 60th anniversary of New Zealand's first ever official gliding competition. We are expecting about 15 attending gliders. If you are in the area, feel to call in. The Central Districts competition will be commencing at Papawai the day after our rally concludes.

Photos please, Peter. Would like to go, but cannot. Would you be able to write something up and forward it to John? I'm sure he'd appreciate it.

As will be seen above, the annual Vintage Kiwi Rally at Hood Aerodrome Masterton did go ahead despite challenges by covid and the weather. In all, 13 Vintage Kiwi associated gliders participated. These were Schleicher Ka6 variants, GAN, GBU and GEJ; PZL-Swidnik PW-5 "Smyk"s GBD(2) and GTE, Glaser-Dirks DG101G Elan GNV, Briegleb BG12-16 GMR, TeST Tst 14 Bonus M GUL, Schleicher ASW-20 GVW, Glasflugel Libelle variants GGJ and GOS; Schleicher Ka8b GLE; and Glasflugel 303 Mosquito GKT. Towing was provided by Aeroprakt A-22LS Foxbat LFD in a new livery. Most gliders were able to stay up for several hours on some days and spent their time touring round the Wairarapa.Plans are already underway for our 2023 rally, probably in the Taranaki area (watch this space) and hopefully by which time Covid will not be at the current threat level.

I have an extensive photographic collection of New Zealand's gliding scene. I am missing a few gliders and would be most appreciative if anyone may have any of the following and be prepared to scan me a copy. In the first instance, please send me a PM. Any received would be gratefully appreciated and acknowledged to the donor if ever published.
