In case anybody is wondering why the RNZAF's P-40s and F4Us are not mentioned in any of the Piva (Bougainville) threads provided by aircraftclocks which have been running for the last few months, the answer is simple - they were not flying from Piva (North), but from Torokina strip, the one right beside the beach a couple of miles away to the south. No doubt aircraftclocks is saving the Torokina story for a later thread, perhaps in 2021? David D

Interesting in that the spotters are actually named here, have never seen this information before. Sorry to hear that the Torokina details remain "undiscovered at this time", but at least the RNZAF version of events still survives reasonably intact. Very many thanks to aircraftclocks for keeping up his self-appointed task of bringing this rich vein of information streaming across our screens with absolutely no input from us but for our fingers hitting the keys/mouse.
