I would like to publicly thank for forum member Graeme Sutherland for his help in an hour of need.
Some of you may be aware that I was involved in a fairly major car crash on my way back to Auckland from Masterton after the Wings Over Wairarapa air show. Following that, I was moved from Tokoroa hospital to Rotorua hospital before being medi-evac'd back home mid-covid.
The rescue services also sent my ex-car luggage home with me, but of course quite a number of smaller items were left scattered around the interior of the wrecked rental car.
Fortunately I was able to contact the car towing firm involved in recovering the vehicle, and Graeme was able to get hold of the towie, collect the remaining bits-and-pieces, pack them up and post them back up to me.
Although these items had not much market value, their practical value to me is immense, and after sorting through the what has been returned I do not seem to have lost anything.
So, thank you Graeme, for you timely help and support. Part of the value of a Forum like this one is that we can meet, get on with and also support fellow members.
Its not all just a chat-fest, we can actually help our fellow members when the need is there.
Retirement is something for the young. Once you are old you never seem to have the time.
Good on you Graeme for stepping up to help Peter. Well done that man, as they say.
Peter was due to visit ZK-CBG and I on the Monday following the show and when I learned of the Sunday cancellation and Auckland's alert level change I got in touch with him to see if his plans had changed. I wasn't at all expecting his response! I'm so glad you're recovering well Peter.

Spot on, Peter. I think there would be very few regular contributors here who've not made good friends thanks to the forum, either via emails and PM's, or by meeting them in person.
It is that personal contact and interaction that right from the beginning I realised made the Forum Meets very special, and also the meet ups at airshows, etc. Putting faces to names, having conversations face to face, and sharing time with each other has built up a lot of genuine friendships through the personal connections.
In fact some of my closest friends I have made are thanks to this forum. And on many occasions I personally have benefitted from favours from forum friends, and vice versa, I have been able to step up and help people with what they need. We are truly a great community here. I am extremely proud to be a part of it.
Great work Graeme. Well done. I'm hoping the broken bits are on the mend Peter.
Well done Graeme and pleased to hear you are on the mend Peter. Yes totally agree with you (and Dave) about the membership on this Forum. I too have made life long friends who I doubt I would have met if not for the Forum (and our mutual love of a drink or two!) And the practical advice and physical help to me personally for my Auster project has been invaluable. Plus through Dave's hard work with keyboard mouse and camera we get to see projects behind the scenes here in NZ. And of course as the membership is pretty level-headed we get updates from those involved in said projects. Hope to see some of you at Omaka in September.
The Auster should be recognised for what it is: a gentleman's aerial touring carriage and a nice aeroplane.
