Col, Ando. Some very interesting chatter on the Friends of the RAAF Mirage Facebook page about getting HARS’s A3-42 flying again. One fellow who has just sprung up on the page is running tests at HARS and talking about flying out of Nowra with Matt Hall (no less) at the controls. Still trying to figure out if it’s a April fools joke or something to get excited about..any ideas?

I'll be interested to see how CASA approach this They won't have to much to do with it, Australian warbirds oversee it. By all accounts it's well sorted already in regards to operating permissions.

The Hunter Fighter Collection at Scone is also beginning work to refurbish their Mirage, I see.

But my information is that Scone machine work is only for cosmetic purposes. My understanding is that all of the specialist tooling and jigs required for a Mirage overhaul was sent to Pakistan along with the majority of the RAAF airframes - this from a former "Miracle" airframe specialist. Guessing that it would require acquisition of such tooling to permit the project/s to proceed

From what I can see a person who's been quietly involved in the warbird scene in Aust for many years (L39 and Huey Cobra) restos is gung ho on getting the HARS Miracle flying again. He's seemed to have stirred a few feathers on the FB establishment with people saying it can't be done or its too dangerous to risk life and an historical airframe but I say good on him and best of luck. I'd love to hear that Atar again in full burner. Hope he has deep pockets though. Sure crowd funding could help too if its looks a goer.

That's good to hear. I wonder what Permit they will get noting Albion park is surrounded by housing. I certainly would love to see one flying again
