NZ Warbirds will be undertaking an ANZAC Day fly past over the Auckland Cenotaph and MOTAT, from approx 10:50am Sunday. From Biggin Hill Historic Aircraft Centre, OhakeaWe are preparing for ANZAC Day 2021 with our annual flypasts around the Manawatu/Rangitikei/Whanganui regions. Our flypasts were badly impacted by weather in 2019 and cancelled because of COVID restrictions in 2020 so we are hoping for better luck in 2021. This year our Spitfire and Grumman Avenger will be joined by two RNZAF Texans for the circuit. The Grumman Avenger passenger will be SQNLDR (Ret'd) Jim Jennings who completed 50 years service with the RNZAF back in 2011 and has continued in a civilian role at Ohakea since before his pending retirement. A former Skyhawk pilot, he had the distinction of being the only RNZAF Skyhawk pilot to fire his cannons in anger when asked in 1976 to intercept a rogue fishing boat operating in NZ territorial waters and which refused to stop when commanded by HMS Taupo.
