AT 1130 54 SBDs and 23 TBFs made pinpoint assaults on enemy AA and coastal guns on Poporang, Falsi and Shortland Islands. The enemy concentrations were thoroughly covered, with a confirmed hit scored on an automatic nest next to a coastal battery, and a large orange fire started in a probable fuel dump at Nila all on Poporang. The Poporang radar was also reported damaged, and another fire started at the north tip of the island. To complete the day's action 2 TBFs took off from Cherry Blossom at noon to make five strafing runs along the south side of the Jaba River.
