If we change so what for defence:
Royal Aotearoa Navy - RAN - bugger that abbreviation is taken
Aotearoa Army - AA - fix you car sir or want a drink? Not to mention clash with Air Aoetearoa and an American airline
Royal Aotearoa Air Force - RAAF - bugger thats another abbreviation Aussie has taken

Me thinbks they would drop the Royal bit, there is no democracy in these decisions of stealth, so we'll have an AAF and an AN. The army will still be known as a bunch of P... heads trying to recover. You didn't mention that one. Before anyone gets affended the heading does say a light hearted look.

Looking further into the future and taking care of two changes with the one stone, so to speak, perhaps Republic of Aotearoa Air Force or Air Force of the Republic of Aotearoa would be more appropriate?

In a similar vein, the Late Angus Douglas-Hamilton, the 14th Duke of Hamilton used to own Scottish Aviation Bulldog G-AXIG, which was done up in Swedish Air Force colours, but he painted the Lion Rampant of Scotland emblems where the Swedish roundels (is that term correct for Swedish markings?) were and named his aeroplane the first aircraft of the "Scottish Republican Air Force"! A piccie nicked off the internet. www.airhistory.net/photos/0047098.jpgUnusually I don't have a picture of this aircraft; The Duke used to partake in flying displays we held at East Fortune and I spent time with him on a few occasions to do with the museum. He passed away some years ago.
