I hope all our members and friends in Victoria, Australia, are okay after the 6.0 magnitude earthquake this morning. Thinking of all those affected in Melbourne and beyond.

Thanks for the thoughts Dave. News just said downgraded to 5.8. Nevertheless still a bit of damage but no reports of injury. 5.8/6 hardly enough to rattle a cup of tea in NZ...

Yeah thanks for your thoughts Dave, daughter lives in Rose Bay, near Sydney Harbour, had her apartment block rocking and a few people evacuated out into the streets, no damage all okay.

We live in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne some 130km from the epicentre at Licola North in the foothills of the Victorian Alps. The quake is now reported as 5.8 on the Richter scale and 10km deep. There have been aftershocks in the 3 to 4 scale.
Our house shook violently for some 20 seconds so it certainly got our attention.
Some building damage in the Melbourne suburb of Prahran and there are reports of it being felt as far as Wagga Wagga, Canberra, Sydney and Newcastle to the north and Geelong through to South Australia to the south and west.
So along with the dramas going on with riotous protests in Melbourne for the third day by those with some self entitlements, it's a big news day!
Melbourne does get regular small scale earthquakes that are largely unfelt by the population so this one at 09.15am with the population in lockdown was memorable.

I'm just reading in the Sydney Morning Herald that "Scientists say quake probably caused by tectonic pressure from NZ" knew you Kiwis had something to do with it ;-)

It would have been all the Aucklanders leaving their Level 4 homes into Level 3 to head en masse to KFC!

typical Australia! Always trying to claim New Zealands things and people starting with Phar Lap and progressing right through to Russell Crowe! Now we can't even have earthquakes to ourselves without them muscleing on those too.

Barely felt it, unlike a good old Kiwi rumble.
