Hi Chris, just a thought, I wonder if it would be worth making contact with the guys operating the airworthy Hudson in Oz, you may have some potentially airworthy/overhualable parts that they could make use of? In return of course they my have some cylinders/bits that are no longer airworthy but OK for a ground runner? Either way it’s a fantastic project, I look forward to video of it making noise ( and smoke! ).

Thanks for that but the Ozzy Hudson is fitted with different engines, theirs has Pratt and Whitney R-1830's. Still worth contacting the team over there though. Cheers

I thought I had read that RAAF Hudson MkIV's were fitted with R-1830's? I believe the Temora example is a MkIV, although painted in the colours of a MkIII? Must have misread it. I should have looked closer at the pictures of Temora's Hudson, definitely R-1820's!

Chrism, No....you are correct and incorrect.... It arrived fitted with R.1830 and operated that way until after the war. In its latter RAAF ops it flew with the Survey Flight and fitted with F.24 camera. Post war went to East West Airlines then to Adastra who were the aerial mapping co involved in mapping Australia after the RAAF...sorry and/or in conjunction with. Adastra found that the R.1830 was not good "at altitude" and so retrofitted the machine with R.1820. That's how it came to Temora. There is a great pic of the machine flying with two others just near Milne Bay during the war but because it was fitted with R.1820 it could not be painted that way. Lots of research to try and pick up all the leads of the aircraft's history but with one fitted with R.1820. Took a lot of research then found that the 'Milne Bay" Huddies with the sqn fitted with R.1820...hence the "Tojo Busters" scheme. If you buy me several JD I can tell you all about it !Bloody cold in the hangar at Albury putting on all the markings I can tell you !

Excellent news for our project over the weekend with the discovery of the missing cylinder and pushrods! Luckily the family we bought the engine off spied them tucked away under lots of parts in a back shed as they were cleaning up. So the list of parts needed has changed for the better. Still required are 2x pistons Propeller governor Rocker covers Starter Oil filter and cover Propeller We have an inertia starter to offer as a swap as it is opposite in rotation to the one we need. I have been told that Pratt and Whitney starters rotate in the opposite direction to Wright's? The disassembly is going well with everything still looking to be in great condition.
