Anyone else watching this on a Sunday night notice the prop aircraft remains shown with the junk in the yard. Look like the front half of a Albatros DVa Has the two machine guns on the cowl and extends to just behind the cockpit, In the first episode it was shown on the back of his truck being driven to the farm If you want to see what I was talking about and don't watch the program you can catch it on TV1 on demand

Is it anywhere near as good as the series with Sir David Jason and Pam Ferris?

Bradley Walsh used to work for Rolls Royce aero engines when he was younger so he has an aviation connection too.

Yeh Dave , I am a sucker for this new show, but the original HE Bates books read even better. Sad they have done just a PC remake , like All Creatures have done . It would have been a better show ( to me ) if it was set in the 1980s when immigrant Indians and Africans ( am I allowed to say those words ) were well part of the UK rural scene and would give the show a real modern lift and new gags. Sadly I have to accept that at some time we will see a remake of Doc Martin , but possibly not the Goon Show.

So that begs the question, which show was the mock up originally produced for?

Last chance tonight to ID the aircraft type

It looks very much like an Albatros fuselage with it's partly exposed in line engine but it has red/white/blue markings on the rudder and a large "racing number" within a circle on the rear fuselage, the rest of the fuselage appears to be varnished plywood. Saw no sign of the wings

Shorty had some trouble uploading this screengrab so I've done so on his behalf. It provides a view of the "whole" airframe: The Larkins' mystery aircraft via Neville Mines by Zac Yates, on Flickr I'm pretty sure it's an Albatros D.V or D.Va. Or something heavily inspired by one. Either way it's very odd!

It has been suggested on the "WWI and Earlier" Facebook page that this may be the Albatros built for the movie "1917".

I would agree that it is the "1917" Albatros. There have obviously been a few minor changes but the underlying paint scheme seems to match. These images are from danaanusca.com/1917. Dana Anusca is a visual artist who works in the film industry in the UK, and worked in the Art Department for "1917".
