The No. 485 (NZ) Squadron Reunion that used to happen annually at Whenuapai. This was the very first outing for Doug's Spitfire, and seeing it paired up with Brendon's Spitfire was a huge thrill. The following year they were back and Mustang ZK-TAF was with them. Trying to recall, was this 2009, Marty? Thanks Dave. You say “used to happen” - why is it no longer a thing?

Because there is only one member of No. 485 (NZ) Squadron still alive, as far as I know. And their association no longer exists.

Are the Orion's going to be sold off ? Would be great to save a cockpit section if they were going to scrap.

I glossed over the ‘reunion’ part when reading your post. Here are some links to some of the previous No. 485 (NZ) Sqn reunions held at RNZAF Whenuapai: And this bloke kept popping up at these reunions with his microphone in hand...

Given her history / importance, are there any plans for preservation by 'someone / anyone' (Perhaps even at Wigram?) and if so, where? Thanks. Orion NZ4201 is scheduled for preservation eventually at Wigram. As is Hercules '01.

Does any one know what an P3 could be doing over Hamilton?
For context I was outside tidying up and I hear a plane, look up and see a banking P3 flying fairly low. Any ideas guys?

Could only be enemy subs up the Waikato, surely.

Could only be enemy subs up the Waikato, surely. That’s the thing though, last time I crossed the river I didn’t see any periscopes. More likely I’m just no good at spotting submarines-I don’t practice often.

NZ4205 did an extremely low level flyby at Woodbourne at around 1400. Looked great.

NZ4205 did an extremely low level flyby at Woodbourne at around 1400. Looked great. So 05 retired today? And 06 next week on the 13th? Or is 05 doing something else? One went past Cambridge at very low level today, my mate Mike saw it and said it was really low. I heard it but couldn't see it.

"Royal New Zealand Air Force - It was a double celebration at Base Woodbourne today with the combined graduation of 16 Officer Cadets from the Officer Commissioning Course and 53 Recruits from the Recruit Course.
The Minister of Defence, the Hon Peeni Henare reviewed the parade.
While COVID-19 restrictions meant that family and loved ones could not attend the ceremony, those who tuned into the livestream also got to see a drill display by the graduates, as well as a haka and waiata.
Congratulations to the newest members of our Air Force whānau. We wish them the best of luck for the next phase of their journey. But for now it’s time to celebrate your achievements with friends and whānau.
#NZAirForce #Force4NZ"

Cool. That's the biggest parade I have seen there in photos for years. none have beaten our R1/89 Passing Out though, 120 recruits.
