I have been really enjoying the episodes of Dan Snow's History Hit covering the story of Ernest Shackleton's expedition and his ship Endurance the past few weeks. Shackleton's story and the story of the expedition team members' survival when their ship became trapped in the pack ice of Antarctica is one of the most amazing stories of adventure and survival ever. But what is also amazing is Dan Snow is currently aboard a large research vessel in the Weddell Sea off Antarctica with a team of scientists and explorers and archaeologists and others, and they are right now searching the sea floor with remote vehicles searching for the wreck of the Endurance. It would be absolutely amazing if they find it. Listen to Dan's podcasts and his audio diaries from down there here: www.historyhit.com/podcasts/

Thank you Dave. An outstanding find. Shackleton was always my favourite exploratory hero since schooldays through to present time. A very pleasing result for the world.

Always had an interest in Shackleton. My late father had in his library the book "Shackleton's Boat Journey', written by a Commander F A Worsley. He states the book is based on the book, written by Worsley, "Endurance", published in 1931. I still have the book on my bookshelf, and note that it was presented to my father 25 December 1933, when he was 13, almost 14 years old. It sits beside a copy of "The Three Musketeers", with my great grandfathers name inscribed and which I believe came with him to New Zealand in 1883.
