In case the Facebook link disappears in the future, it states: LOUIS TAPPER SETS NEW NZ RECORD Louis Tapper has set a new NZ out and back record flying from Long Gully up to the head of the Hunter Ridge, for a total of 183km. He reports: “The day was slow start, but really turned on as flying progressed into some classically stunning back country. Flying deep in NZ doesn’t come without risk and does requires commitment. Landing out at the top of the Hunter Valley would have involved a 2 day walk out with a dodgy calf, minimal food and a 26kg backpack. I am pleased the Skysight forecast was also spot on, marking obvious convergence on the day. Highlight of the day was flying next to my glider friend Milan Sawyer from Kahu Soaring (thanks for the pictures) kahusoaring.nz/For flight track go to: www.xcontest.org/.../detail:yakernz/30.01.2022/23:25?Big Congratulations Louis
