Unfortunately the Antonov 225 has now been confirmed as destroyed in a Russian attack at Hostomel airport on the 24th of February 2022.

Wow, a bit of a blow for Ukrainian morale, not that it was suitable in anyway for the defence of the country, and probably too large to be not noticed. Has it been in use recently to anyone's knowledge?

Luckily there is a second AN-225 which was never fully completed, but now might be a candidate once things settle down... ( link)

It's in constant use, no doubt it's Demise will be a problem for some that use it often. Wow, a bit of a blow for Ukrainian morale, not that it was suitable in anyway for the defence of the country, and probably too large to be not noticed. Has it been in use recently to anyone's knowledge?

Word I've seen online is one engine was U/S, and she can't fly on only five! Antonov has sworn in recent days to rebuild her - US$3b has been mentioned.
It's awful news but - as I keep reminding people who have a go at me on social media ("You care more about a plane than people's lives?!") and without wanting to get political - is insignificant compared to the human toll of this conflict.

This forum is social media. Twitter is antisocial media. This was on Facebook but fortunately we reached an understanding. I try and stay away from the toxic side of stalkbook. The extent of my commentary on the war on social media is my profile picture. Su-27 approach Also a couple of articles on NZAvNews about the war thus far...

Would make a good candidate for a Avspecs or Pioneer rebuild... It's the size of the shipping container that's the stumbling block!

One of the An-124's has also had a bit of a rough time, but nothing a bit of kiwi 'can-do' attitude and ingenuity couldn't fix - Avspecs/Pioneer where are you...?
And yup going to need a bigger shipping container...
