Many of us have fond memories of Pat Donovan's formerly Omaka-based Lockheed 12 so it was wonderful to see this in the latest Warbirds Over Wanaka newsletter:
I've not been lucky enough to visit Wangaratta or see Doug's Lockheed in person but I know many forumites have, so this is very cool news indeed! Perhaps our own planecrazy will be able to get snaps of her on the way over?

That's great to see. My main memory of it was it being exceptionally loud!

Whoo whoo been sitting on this for a little while, any tips on departures will be most gratefully appreciated, just hope work doesn't get in the way? A Lockeed 12 going east to NZ then a P51 Mustang going west to Oz, then a Staggerwing going east to NZ. Hope I am not putting the mocha on this will be awesome to see these three! You gotta love a Staggerwing or five! www.warbirdsoverwanaka.com/2024-airshow/news/mustang-departs-wanaka/

Would appreciate if anyone knows if it will make any stops on the way down to Wanaka in the lower north island, please. Many thanks!

A friend said she overflew Whanganui about an hour ago but I couldn't hear anything nor see her on the various tracking apps.

I sent a txt to Doug and Steve hoping they had a 'boring' flight today. Doug replied a few seconds later that all was good and they were 'approaching the South Island..". Isn't technology marvellous

I earlier suggested to Doug that a few nice reds and a lamb roast were in order. He has just replied that it is happening right now and, "...Deathy still digesting what we have just done, crossed the Tasman, without a cough or a splutter, in an 85 year old aeroplane and really comfortable to ride in..."
