There are those hexagonal concrete blocks again! Has anybody seen actual photos of these being created? (I think they were usually cast 'in situ'). Maybe a description in contemporary newspapers? On second thoughts, most of the Ohakea and Whenuapai ones would have been laid in 1942/43, so maybe not much publicity for them in middle of WW2!

there are photos of them being poured and the formers in the Aerodrome Services Branch History book. The national library should also have photos of them as will national archives

The national library should also have photos of them as will national archives Also photos in Public Works WW2 history book that must have very limited production as contains actual photos stuck into appropriate pages. Defence Library used to have a copy.
