HELP PLEASEDoes anyone here know the whereabouts of Rand KR2 formerly registered as ZK-KRZ? Or who the current owner is? I have just been sent all the aircraft's logbooks and documentation, rescued from going into a skip bin. Talking with a former owner it seems the current owner (whose name he could not recall) had been under the impression these logbooks were all lost. I want to reunite them with the owner and aircraft please. It was last heard of as possibly having been moved from Te Kowhai to Mercer?

Hello Dave, I have only just come across this site and seen your post asking about ZK- KRZ - Did you ever find the owner?
The reason I ask is this KR may have been the aircraft I swopped for a caravan when I left Zimbabwe in 1983. I took over 1 of 3 airframes when the syndicate Clive Puzzy was leading broke up in Rhodesia. I took over 1 partial airframe and spent two years+ on it. When I realised I HAD to emigrate to South Africa, I was told I wasn't allowed to take it out of the country as I would be stealing from Zimbabwe! I emigrated again to New Zealand in 2009 and in 2015 decided to renew my flying licence. I came across KRZ in Rangiora when I saw the owner preflighting KRZ. I casually said I built one in Zim. He stood upright and said this was where it was from! There were many recognisable parts but, I couldn't believe that it was really my old unfinished passion and had arrived in NZ some 25+ years before me. I asked DCA to do a title search and the response was high probability, but not 100%. So did you trace the owner and if not, do you still have the documentation? I have several photos of KRZ and would really like to resolve the mystery! Thanks Ivor Link 027 313 0009 /ivorlink@gmail.com

Thanks Gentlemen Well done and thank you for your quick responses - I am a bit sad in some respects, but with that key bit of information of KRZ having an accident on take off in Zimbabwe in '80's means that KRZ must have been #1 (of 3) and I had #2 (of 3); #3 was only about 15% into construction when I took #2 over. I was anecdotally told by Clive they thought reason for the take off accident was because a fiberglass strip that had been added to the stabilizer as a gap seal, had shrunk and curled in a manner that made the stabiliser ineffective causing the crash on takeoff. I was told to remove it on my version. I never did get over not being able to finish that KR2 and leave it behind, so when I saw all the same parts..... however in my defense 32 years had passed since then! On a side note to scratch that infernal itch to build again that's hounded me for all these years, I acquired the pitiful remains of ZK-PIG a Murphy Renegade Spirit Biplane that was written off in a takeoff crash near Lincoln / Tai Tapu some years ago and had been languishing at the back of a hangar that Graham Orphan (Classic Wings Magazine) had to clean out with another purchase. I haven't made a decision to rebuild it (substantially another airframe) or use the parts and Rotax 912 engine (after a check out), or use all the parts on another project. Grahams one condition of my purchase was not to paint it pink again!- C heers Ivor ZK-PIG nzcivair.blogspot.com/2010/04/dont-mess-with-pig.html

I did find the owner, he made contact. He has still not picked up his logbooks. I may be mistaken but is it still owned by a WONZer in the Hawke's Bay?

I have offered this to ivor without response, but if anyone out there has a desire to restore a KR2 back to flight, I have one available currently registered. PM me for details.
