The photograph of the Cat in that bay is very evocative.

On my visit there I found looking at the Catalina very disorienting, and I was getting a bad feeling of vertigo. I had to go back down the stairs as quickly as I dared as I felt like I was about to plummet. Made me feel quite off. I think being very tired after two and a half weeks of constant travelling and recording shows was contributing to that feeling, but I'd much rather look at the Catalina at ground level.

You can (could?) view this Catalina from a reasonably level position if you knew where go and get a good vantage point. VH-ASA at Powerhouse 21 March 2019

Have actually had the pleasure of working on that machine when it was temporarily housed at the Camden Museum of Aviation when based at Camden Airport. Also have the pleasure of being friends with Gai Taylor. Wonderful lady who with a lot of friends and volunteers ran the Great Eastern Fly-In at Evans Head, NSW. This was a very large former RAAF WW.II base.

Well, that's good news for visitors that it's not going to Parramatta, particularly since its pilot's daughter objected to the move, mind you, the new museum was not received very well at all. VH-ASA 1Is there any word as to whether or not the Ultimo site will be sold to developers, or is it going to remain? Originally the plan was to move the entire museum to Parramatta and Ultimo will be turned into apartments. Has this changed now? It was a few years back that I covered the story in NZAvNews.
