On the website it says this will be the only Ardmore show this year. Anyone know why that is?

Oh. I hope the weather plays ball, the June show sometimes strikes rotten weather.

On the website it says this will be the only Ardmore show this year. Anyone know why that is? I presume this is because normally their spring-summer Warbirds On Parade happens in late November or early December, but we have Wings Over Wairarapa on 24-26 November now instead.

Hello there, I am wondering if there is anyone driving between Cambridge (or near) this coming Saturday, June 3? I am hopefully heading to Ardmore for the weekend for the show. Unfortunately I am not yet old enough to drive, so it really only limits me to public transport, hence the reason I ask here just in case. Many thanks Aidan

HAPPY DANCE!
From Pioneer FB (we all had our fingers crossed for this, right?) "NEWSLASH". At late notice and with the kind permission of #militaryaviationmuseum the SBD that has recently arrived at Pioneer Aero Ltd will, all things being equal, be on display at the upcoming warbirds-on-parade this coming Sunday (4 June 2023) here at Ardmore, New Zealand. If you wish to see her before we start restoration this is your chance.
I'm seriously considering wearing a thermal top to the show, meaning I can de-bulk my layers of jackets.

Hopefully the weather cooperates - doesn't look like an amazing forecast currently but the morning at least might be alright.

Dauntless is outside Warbirds, and the Blunty has just joined it. Also Pitts ZK-LOL about to go up, and Furio ZK-FUO is in the circuit.

Weather looks alright for tomorrow. And the weather has been pretty good. Especially for the time of the year.

Weather today (at the airshow) was really good, especially in the morning with an almost clear, blue sky. The queues to get in were long, and my son and his family actually turned back on Mill Road (as did others) because they were late (about 1030) and stationary. I managed to get there in time for the first display and once again enjoyed the WW1 aircraft with their "death in slow motion" vibe.I was standing outside a hangar for the spitfire demonstration later in the day and was talking to a guy with a monopod and huge camera on it. I asked if he ever took video, and he said no, only photos. I think it may have been Gavin Conroy (he did look familiar). Great stuff, and I think from the size of the crowd that the organisers raked in a welcome contribution to their coffers. Thanks to all the pilots and volunteers for making this happen.

Great day. Best Mustang display I’ve ever seen.
Not sure if the Spit had to knock it off after those two tight turns but they were awesome to witness.
Watching the Westpac chopper display I couldn’t help but think again that the Air Force misses a trick by not being there.
Blunty was sweet.
Seeing the Dauntless up close with original paint was special.
Well done and thank you to all involved.
Pity there isn’t a December show!

It was a good display today.
Lots of really impressive flying on a day in which the weather was a lot better than forecast. Good to see almost all aircraft get a run. The Siemens-Schukert being its temperamental self and proving the exception.
Yes, the Spitfire display was cut short by a “knock it off” call. As were the Bird Dog formation pair. That’s show biz!
Everything else was top notch, from trainers, to fighters, to specialist aerobats.
The Dauntless restoration project will prove very interesting. I did notice the jig to which it is bolted shows off the same “Douglas” method of attaching the wings as a DC-3. Flanges with hundreds of bolts around the perimeter
I took Errol’s advice and turned left out of the Ardmore airport gates. Special thanks to the Warbirds parking team who did their best to keep the cars moving.

All four aerobatic aeroplane displays were fantastic! It was lovely to see the display by Dave Wilkinson in his One Design.
And absolutely brilliant to see Richard Hood displaying in his new Pitts S-1SS ZK-LOL. That is a stunning aeroplane and terrific to see Richard display it. It's been a long time since I have seen him display at an airshow, and he remains the master of Pitts flying, imho.
But the two displays that were awesome spectacles were Dave Cranna in the Extra ZK-XLX, and Doug Brooker in his MX, ZK-MXS. Wow, they both flew remarkable displays, and it was wonderful hearing the gasps and oooohs of the collective members of the crowd as they threw their aeroplanes around in ways that do not seem possible.
We are so lucky to see such excellent displays as these by four very experienced aerobatic pilots, in for amazing aeroplanes.
Great to see Akan Butler make his radial engine debut in the Scout, taking over from Bevan Dewes who normally flies it, because he's overseas.
The Mustang display by Graham Bethell was mint! I really loved getting the opportunity to see him display it once more, the airshow scene won't be the same when he finally calls it quits and sells the Mustang.

I eagerly await photos - not being able to travel due to leg tumour and wife's health. I did plan to be there but life doesn't always play fair.
