Really good to see the RNZAF actually getting to exercise with some different-from-the-usual countries in a NZ-based exercise.
Have any of the RNZAF C-130J's arrived yet? I have been out of the loop for six weeks.

None of the C-130j aircraft have arrived in NZ as of yet. Three of the five aircraft are currently completing test flights in the USA.

Would this have been the first time that aircraft of the German Luftwaffe and the Spanish Air and Space Force have ever exercised with the RNZAF in New Zealand?

Not sure about the Spanish but fairly certain I read in one of the articles that this was the first time the Germans had been here.

Per the NZDF article above "This is the first time operational German and Spanish military aircraft have visited New Zealand." The Luftwaffe have visited before when a ViP 707 arrived at Ohakea. This aircraft brought the West German Minister of Defence, Mr Schmidt for an Official visit to New Zealand. OhG6408a-71

I think there is a reason 'operational' was used, as it is of course important to announce firsts in media releases.

Indeed, and I asked about exercising here, rather than delivering a VIP.
