Six months before the US-NZ Lend-Lease settlement, in July 1946, the two parties signed a contract (W-ANL-PTO-III-6000) in which New Zealand agreed to buy the bulk of America's war surpluses including "2,250 vehicles, more or less," then held at the Seaview warehouse, Petone. Included in this contract, signed on 19 January 1946, was a single aircraft ... Lodestar 42-55944 (NZ3507), costing $USD18,000.

Interesting. That Lodestar was, according to NZDF Serials, "Sold to Union Airways from No.42 Squadron on 20 May 1945. Entered the New Zealand Civil Aircraft Register as ZK-AHX named Kororo."
That is months before this sale. Odd.

Yet another reminder, were it necessary, of the risks associated with using contemporary, privately published secondary sources (without citations).

A case of a "sale" document being executed some time after the "handshake" deal. Some 7 months between the RNZAF issuing the aircraft "On Repayment" to NZNAC AF380).
