The turret I was referring to was the FLIR turret under the nose, which first appeared in the mid 80s update. With the FLIR gear they supposedly didnt need the searchlight. I note the picture on the RNZAF web page must have been taken a while ago, before the permanent removal. www.airforce.mil.nz/about-us/aircraft/orion.htm

Hi Guys, I have just finished my latest model for my RNZAF collection, a P3K Orion in "hi Viz" scheme. Kit is the standard Hasegawa P3C, with the tweaks required to represent a K model. I have used the Microscale decals that I obtained as a package deal with the kit, but also added some serials (they didnt have them on the sheet!) using my standard inkjet printing trick. The searchlight on the wing is scratchbuilt using an old drop tank fom the bits box as a basis, with a vacformed nose assembly. Now back to my next quandry which is deciding what to do next - I'm tempted to start the Hastings, but that requires a bit of parking space on the shelves..... Beautiful stuff Bruce

Nice build. Not often you see an RNZAF P-3 finished.
Having said that, with a combination of my readily available decals (shameless plug here) and the Hasegawa kit items, all the errors on the Superscale scheet could have been avoided (and you get the serials for all the aircraft).
Also, the high viz 1/72 and 1/144 C-130H decals are now available. Just need the new ribbons I ordered to actually arrive so I can print some...
