I just saw on Australia's Nine News that famous director Baz Luhrmann has announced he's to make a new film starring Russell Crowe and Nicole Kidman, set in Darwin during the bombings by the Japanese. It will certainly be interesting to see how the Japanese bombers and fighters are recreated for the screen.

Why does the thought of a film about the Darwin bombings made by Baz Luhrmann and starring "Angry Russ" & "Our Nicole" fill me with a terrible sense of foreboding? Hey, maybe I'm being a bit harsh here, but some of the tripe those people have been involved in other the years doesn't give me much faith that this film will be anything more than fairyfloss. I guess it couldn't be as bad as Pearl Harbor (sic)?

I agree, the concept sounds excellent, but Baz luhrmann is known to be Somewhat "Alternative" with how he tells stories, and Russ and Nicole... well Russ has done O.K with "A Beautiful mind" and "Gladiator" but how would he do with acting as a normal australian? (he cant manage that normally!). Nicole shouldnt be too bad providing she doesnt sing!
