Camilla's bits is a scary subject...you're a sick man, C67 !!!!
Does the A380 have a shorter landing distance than the 747-400 or 800 ?

Turbo, I'm not sure about the landing distance comparisons between a A380 and the 747?
Maybe someone else will know?

Airbus A380 landing distance for sea level at 450 tons is approximately 2150 metres, and at 300 tons approximately 1600 metres (see link below, refer page 78). www.content.airbusworld.com/SITES/Technical_Data/docs/AC/DATA_CONSULT/AC_A380.pdfThe Boeing 747-400, according to ANA's website www.ana.co.jp/eng/aboutana/corporate/galleryclassi/1983/744.html has a landing distance of 2300 metres, but the landing weight at which this is established is not stated. The -400ER, the latest version, can apparently land in 2190 metres, and this figure appears on a few Boeing 747 related websites. Landing distance is dependant on many variables (some include weight, landing surface, surface contamination [such as water], wind, barometric pressure, flap settings, etc). These figures would be unfactored.

Thanks for that info, flyjoe: there some interesting comparisons between the two there. As you point out there are many variables in actual landing distances due to various other factors - as more than one crew have discovered during landings on a wet runway!
