Charles Darby and Monty Armstrong apparently recovered the remains of 5 Boomerangs from Nadzab, PNG, to NZ.
Darby apparently planned to restore one to flight but eventually sold it to Kermit Weeks. What became of the rest? Did all the remains go to Mr Weeks? Have any of them returned to flight since?

There was one Boomerang flying in the US a few years back. It was restored by Dennis Saunders and Dale Clarke using some T-6 parts and was painted up as A46-139 (Phooey) Its US rego is NX32CS and is based in Chino I havent heard anything about it for a few years so am not sure if it is still flying

Talking to an ex 5 Sqdn Boomerang pilot on the weekend. Lots of great stories, but his best was non - aviation: Parishner to Priest: I'm worried I won't go to heaven Father? Priest: And why is that my son? Parishner: My wife was bending over a food freezer, I could not help myself, and had my way with her! Priest: Well my son, you and your wife have been happily married for many years and I am sure St Peter will let you both thru the pearly gates. Parishner: Thank Christ for that Father.....Safeway has banned us for life! Will see if I can get some of his wartime pics.
