Does anyone recall the 1991 mini-series called "Which Way Home?" It starred Cybill Shepherd, and part of it was actually made, believe it or not, at RNZAF Bases Whenuapai and Hobsonville. I believe from memory our bases were posing as a US base in Asia. Seen in the series were Whenuapai's gate, an Orion, a Boeing 727, Hobsonville's Airman's Mess and the Persel barracks block. I had forgotten all about this till today when I read an old RNZAFA magazine from 1990 and saw a small article about the filming. I recall watching it when it was on TVNZ, about 1991. I don't recall what it was about though. Let's just say, not as memorable as the RNZAF's appearance in The Rescue. In this it's about a nurse who escapes Cambodia with a group of orphans during the Vietnam invasion. Also in the cast were Kiwi perrenials Paul Gittins and Ken Blackburn, plus Aussie-Brit John Waters. www.imdb.com/title/tt0103246/Does anyone have it on video.
