FWIW: It would appear that this aircraft's visit is more unusual than we may think. It is apparently doing a round the world flight, and was merely 'passing though'. There is a lot about it on-line, but this report from the MRC Aviation site explains everything: 'The PA24 look alike arrived at Kerikeri from Rarotonga 26 April and flew onto North Shore the same day. 01 May saw the aircraft head to Great Barrier Island, Tauranga, Wanganui (overhead only?) and overnight at Paraparaumu. The following day ZU-XML headed to Queenstown before making a beeline for Ardmore on 04 May. The morning of 06 May saw an early morning departure to Kerikeri and onto Lord Howe Island'.(1) __________________________________ (1)[n.a.], 'Earthrounder Pushes West',[online], MRC Aviation @ nzcivair.blogspot.co.nz/2014/04/ravin-500-zu-xml.html [accessed 7 May 2015].

Went for a ride in it yesterday, nice bit of kit. I understand the aircraft is based in Singapore but made the trip across from Sydney as part of it's demo trip. Lots to play with in the back as well as the front including tinting windows, some mood lighting and air con, and a TV, all from your fingertips. Full glass cockpit up front with usual King Air stuff. The bump on the nose is an Infra Red camera for low-vis/night ops.

Awesome pic, every time I'm near Hawker Pacific they get panicky and tell me no pictures, they don't like me at all with a camera near their place.

Awesome pic, every time I'm near Hawker Pacific they get panicky and tell me no pictures, they don't like me at all with a camera near their place. Yes since they have the Air Force contract they have signs on the hangar door and side of the building no cameras? Its not as though they are F35, F22 or similar the King Air is quite a common type? A bit strange to me as after all it is advertising their place of work and maybe helpful in getting more work? Some of the other Ardmore contractors welcome cameras and can see the benefit of free advertising for their business. Each one to their own I guess. Cheers, Colin

yep, nice shots there Colin. I wonder what sort of operating cost difference between this and our -200's Would there be any advantages going to these when our contract comes up for renewal in 2018.

Forgot to post this one from the other day - DA-42 demonstrator from Australia. Still not a fan of the aesthetics but admittedly I can see why it is so popular with airline entry training organisations and supposedly this diesel/Jet-A1 version only burns 40 litres an hour (total) which is impressive.
