Lovely selection there, Errol! The Yak's looking well-used and it's nice to see the P-40 out and about. With all the blue sky in the ZK-FHC pics over the last week, I bet it was a great day to be in the Bird Dog.

I wish that they would go back to the authentic Currawong marking instead of those pathetic sharks teeth!!

I wish that they would go back to the authentic Currawong marking instead of those pathetic sharks teeth!! I dislike the sharks teeth, but it is worth noting the "Currowong" artwork was purely speculative, with no record of that aircraft having worn any artwork. The squadron often used bird names based on the individual code letter, so it was "authentic" in that sense

It's also two different aeroplanes I think depending on which side you look at.

It's also two different aeroplanes I think depending on which side you look at. Nope, same machine - for some reason the Aussies used dual / Fake serials and codes on only one side of a number of aircraft at Tadji. The odd mix is absolutely Authentic (see John Kings Book "The Whole None Yards") which has photos from the time of recovery)

You can also see the two sides in the photos I took when we were getting it at Tadji (they are in my stash thread)

Too windy for the Mossie on Saturday, but caught some nice action (and had a chat with Colin) I noticed earlier in the week that I didn't actually have a photo online of ZK-CPG - sorted! AIrtourer T6 ex-NZ1762 by Errol Cavit, on Flickr Thanks for that photo Errol. Got a soft spot for 62 as I flew in this when she was with the RNZAF amd I was in the ATC in 1978. What was even more special was I had a cast on my leg so couldn't bend my leg. But the pilot got me in had a look and said we'll be good! Dogfighting with another Airtourer and a few circuits was fantastic fun!

Continuing from Saturday... Before lunch I was pleased to see Strikemaster 72 taxi down to the end of the runway. However it swung onto the runway, then taxied out of the way - maybe a reading wasn't right? After some time trying to sort out, it went back down by Pioneer. After further work outside (I noticed while I was having lunch), it was towed inside. Hopefully no drama. Strikemaster 72 had a static leak.... when pressuring the cockpit prior to takeoff a sudden rapid descent was noted on both altimeters and VSI reading descent ( hence checking the static ports on the fuse) but turned out to be a loose coonection behind the ASI... took an hour or so to fix then safely headed down south... Now tucked up at Masterton ready for the weekend

Gotta say it's great that we've finally got NUT back in the air (although this photo has it firmly planted on the ground!)... she's looking pretty flash in her new paint with her (second) new lid!
