Well if it's a jet could it be a B707?
When was the last time that F/A-18 Hornets were over in New Zealand?

Well if it's a jet could it be a B707? When was the last time that F/A-18 Hornets were over in New Zealand? March 2000 methinks. Either a WILLOH or some other exercise. There was a formation and solo Hornet display at the Ohakea open day that year.

That break down quip was not a hint. I don't know what type of jet it may be.
It could be an ex-RAAF Sabre from Ardmore for all I know.

Still, it'll be a great show, if the 2005 one was anything to go by.
Forum meet again perhaps ?

Latest word from Alan Udy: It's looking good that we might see a jet aircraft at the show which has "not been seen in New Zealand before". More on this soon when we have confirmation".
Now there's a conundrum! "Not been seen In NZ before"; does that mean not flown and therefore not seen? Or is it already extant in Aus and never crossed the ditch? This one will get the thinking caps on!

Can a Hawk [the last totally British designed and built aircraft by the way!] get across the ditch?
I was thinking something more exotic; like that Avon Sabre! Is it flying? But then it would have a range problem too!. It coiud be one of the RAAF B737s I suppose, but not really 'not seen in NZ'. I doubt it is a current type in service. I told you I would be thinking!

Colin, the Hawks can be fitted with an aerial refueling probe and they also seem to be able to travel back and forth between WA and NSW fairly easily too, so long range flights mustn't be too much of an issue.
The RAAF Historic Flight/TAM CAC Sabre is due to be airworthy again sometime next year, but I'm not sure when. Can't wait to see her in action at Temora at some stage.
Maybe it could well be the Avspecs example that might make an appearance.

Good theory regarding theSabre at Avspecs but the website does say that it is an RAAF aircraft that hasnt been in NZ for quite sometime so I think that rules the Hawk out as well as I dont remember them making a trip here. Infact has an RAAF Sabre ever flown in NZ?

Temora's Canberra or Meteor perhaps?

Sorry Yak, but neither the Meteor or the Canberra [at least not those two!] are current RAAF. It would be nice to see either in NZ, but of course they wouldn't be first time visitors either!
Challenger?
