All the fleet came back in as a "trade in". - including number that had been in storage for a few years (they were still in the orange and grey scheme) but not including the example in the RNZAF museum. Most were refurbished for the Ansett BAe School at Tamworth, but at the time I left Aeromotive there were still 2 or 3 yet to be sold, and these went to private owners, including the one in the photo. As I was mainly working in the stores at the time, I lost track of the exact number that were refurbished.

I'm opretty sure the artwork is for the 60th RNZAF Anniversary, hence the stylised 6 and diamond in the design. Les.

Aha, thanks Les. I sat there looking at is and thinking "Asix, why? It's not Red 6 as there are aonly five in the team... and what does the diamond symbolize...?" But the diamond jubillee makes much more sense. I wonder why just the 6 and not 60?
Was this on all the Checker's aircraft or just that one I wonder.
This year is the 70th which is a Sapphire Jubilee apparently.

Was this on all the Checker's aircraft or just that one I wonder. I have checked back (pun!) on the pics from the Westport 1997 airshow and all six CT4s in the team had the same logo. They were NZ1930 1933 1939 1946 1948 and the reserve aircraft 1938.

Not really what I'd call a special scheme and on a CT-4?! That is just sad ( where's the puke emoticon - never mind).

But it is a special temporary marking, added to denote an anniversary.
I take it you don't like it then?

Looks like someone drew on it with whiteboard markers. Not like the Italians or Germans who seem content to repaint a whole airframe for the slightest reason.
