Here is HARS' Super Constellation on finals into Illawarra Airport. She flew in company with Bob Eastgate's CAC Mustang CH-BOB. Here piloted by Mike de la Hunty and Reg Darwell.

Connie is a gorgeous machine; and you're right Bruce, she does look like she's smiling too!

What a wonderful aeroplane that is. I remember seeing the documentary on its restoration and it would rate amongst the best I have seen. Man those guys worked hard to bring the aircraft to Australia.

Sure was a great film. Bob de la Hunty and his team are very focused and their museum at Illawarra is well worth seeing. They have one hangar completed and will be starting on another building soon.
They are all extremely friendly. There is an excellent restaurant in the terminal run by one of the HARS members and his wife.
On the weekend in April, Bob Eastgate's CAC Mustang 2-seater was giving joyrides from Albion Park (Illawarra airport). I understand that this a/c is unique for the type in that it is legally qualified for charter work with paying pax in Australia.

I received a copy of the magazine put out by the Swiss Constellation Flyers Association and there were some stories about the three, still-flying Super Constellations.
Staggeringly the Swiss former MATS aircraft and HARS's former MATS VH-EAG "Southern Preservation" are siblings with their MATS and Lockheed serials numbers only one apart. How's that for an incredible co-incidence?
The remaining a/c was a civillian freighter and now flies in TWA colours. VH-EAG is in colours akin to those used by Qantas but the words on the side spell "Connie".
